Cozy apartment in Multnomah Village! We loved the neighborhood and dined at several local restaurants. Lovely kitchen, although we didn’t use it because the food here is amazing! Plenty of street parking, which was nice for us since we were traveling in a minivan. All the amenities provided, even coffee! We didn’t get to meet the hosts personally but they were very attentive by email and text. THE GARDEN!!!!! You will feel like you are staying in the magical Secret Garden of a children’s book! Stay was great, the bed and linens were comfortable and the studio provided everything we needed for a weekend. Hosts even left beverages and snacks for us! Located is central to Beaverton, Portland and Lake Oswego. Home is located within walking distance for a cute village and mornings were spent at Grand Central Bakery eating great sandwiches and pastries. Maria communicated very well and was quick to respond! Would def stay here again. Linda from Renton, Washington

Perfect location! Truly in the heart of Multnomah Village, we walked to the downtown strip every morning for coffee. Just minutes to downtown, very quaint and clean. Comfortable beds. Before the week slips away, I want to tell you how much Michael and I enjoyed our stay this past weekend. Your studio is very comfortable and the garden space so beautiful and refreshing, especially during a heat wave! We really appreciated the AC too! Thanks for creating such a nice environment.
Multnomah Village is a precious part of Portland. We loved being a part of it for a few days and hope to enjoy it again some day! Claire from Bend, OR

When I arrived, Maria greeted me and gave me a quick overview of the place and the area. The studio was exactly as it was described and pictured and was perfect for my needs. There were some snacks, chocolate and a gift card for the Grand Central Bakery nearby. The location is peaceful and quiet and close enough to my son’s home to walk. The bed is very comfortable. I loved having everything I needed in one place. The covered patio surrounded by blue hydrangeas is a great place to unwind after a full day of playing with my two-year old granddaughter. I’d love to make this studio my temporary home while visiting Portland. Maria and Kenyon are great hosts who even offered the bounty of their garden. I just regret not taking the time to harvest some of the offered snap peas. Overall, I don’t think I could have done better than staying at maria and Kenyon’s studio. I hope to come back soon if they’ll have me. Lore from Lompoc, California

We met Maria upon arrival. She was friendly and showed us our way to the studio through their beautiful front yard. The neighborhood was charming; very quiet and secluded while being just a couple blocks from the main Multnomah Village drag. We loved walking around this area to check out the local offerings. The space itself was clean and welcoming, complete with everything a guest may desire during their stay. We had an awesome time in Portland/Multnomah Village and cannot wait to return! Laurel from Campbell, California

I stayed solo in the garden apartment of Maria and Kenyon. I found it very tranquil and comfortable. It was so nice to wake up, make myself a cup of coffee and start the day sitting out looking at their beautiful yard. The location is great. A lovely park and restaurants all in walking distance. My hosts were out of town until my last night. In our short visit, we found many common interests and my son who lives in Portland now has a great contact for his outdoor hobbies. Loved my stay in this wonderful neighborhood and charming home. Sharon from Austin, Texas

We absolutely loved this place! We stayed for a week and felt very comfortable. The house is very peaceful and quiet. The gardens in the front and back create such a relaxing atmosphere and gave us respite from our busy life. It is only a couple of blocks from Multnomah Village and had some great little places to eat. It was also right down the street from beautiful Gabriel Park. It was a very short drive to downtown and many other places. Maria and Kenyon were wonderful hosts and made sure we were comfortable. I was sad we had to come home! If we go back to Portland, we would definitely like to stay here again. Anne from Rialto, California

Maria and Kenyon were great hosts. They were flexible with our check in/out times and steered me towards the Max when I was trying to figure out how to get to the zoo! My girlfriend and I had a great stay at the studio! Maria was prompt answering all of my questions (which I had several) and made us feel welcome. The location of the studio was perfect for us — relatively close to downtown while also being away from the bustle. Everything was comfortable and clean, and we’d definitely come back if the opportunity arises! Curtis from California bay area

We loved staying at Safehouse in Multnomah Village. The studio is lovely, quiet and clean. We highly recommend it. Maria from Quebec City

August 2015
Our studio in Multnomah Village was very efficiently laid out with a very comfortable bed against one wall, a fully stocked kitchen against another wall, and a table and chairs with a small closet along a third wall. The garden was very beautiful with an outdoor seating area. Maria communicated with us by e-mail and text to coordinate our arrival time and then called us after we arrived to check in and see if there was anything else we needed. Maria was flexible about our arrival time which we appreciated. The neighborhood is a wonderful residential neighborhood with a large park nearby and a few blocks away a little downtown area with coffee shops, gift shops, restaurants, and a great book story. We had everything we needed for our 2-night stay and were very comfortable in this studio apartment. Coffee and teas, and some cold drinks were provided. Marni

July 2015
With a late arrival it was a little dark on the street but oh the marvels that awaited us when we woke. Comfortable and clean to stay in. Astounding gardens out the windows. Comfortable little patio amungst the trees. The neighborhood was laid back and ever so close to many little shops within easy walking distance. The entire yard was filled with floral delights and even the neighborhood was bursting with stunning roses and so much more. The house was extremely clean and inviting. The owners were very gracious. We were just stopping on our way home from Hawaii and even though we just experiences the incredible islands we weren’t disappointed to be here. We really enjoyed our stay! Patricia

May 2015
My husband and I spent 4 wonderful nights with this beautiful studio as homebase. Although small, every convenience is available:comfortable bed, well-appointed kitchen, “goodies” basket, an exquisite private garden for birdwatching and just relaxing, huge park nearby for hiking, jogging, bike riding; and one block to tiny Multonomah Village with great restaurants & shops. Very delightful but unobtrusive owners – supplied us with great little fold up bikes (bring your own bike helmets); lots of great suggestions; and free passes! A fabulous introduction for our 1st time Portland visit. Marie & Peter

March 2015
We really enjoyed meeting and staying with Maria and Kenyon. The yard and patio look just as great as in the picture and were nice to hang out with a glass of wine. The apartment was nice and comfortable, and we had a good chat reminiscing about our respective Kilimanjaro climbs. I would definitely come back. Pierre

February 2015
The cottage is in a great neighborhood and is central to a lot of Portland. We did not do any cooking there, but the kitchen was nicely furnished with everything one would need. Exactly as advertised, and we would definitely stay here again if we come back to Portland. Jeff & Ann

Great space and an easy commute into the Portland city center. We would certainly consider another stay if venturing back to the area. Michael

January 2015
Maria & Kenyon where quick about responding to our messages. Any question about the wifi or anything needed in the apartment was a quick reply. The place was exactly what my friend and I were looking for. It had a kitchen with all the utensils needed to make a healthy meal 🙂 They had coffee, teas, popcorn, water available for us. What we loved about this locations was that it is walking distance to Multnomah Village and a 8 minute drive to downtown Portland. We were able to go for a walk around the neighborhood and enjoy all the small shops & restaurants! We would definitely stay here again if we are ever on a trip out to Portland. Jessica M

December 2014
Maria was an amazing host! The place is adorable, and was perfect for our stay over Christmas. It’s only a couple blocks from Multnomah Village, and we loved being able to walk into the village to get coffee and breakfast. Maria went above and beyond, providing snacks and a “mini bar” with soft drinks in the fridge, and information about transportation in the area. I would highly recommend this listing to anyone staying in the area! Jessica I

December 2014
Apt was very clean and comfortable. We base our stays on bed comfort and yours was just about as good as it gets. Very quite neighborhood! Terry

November 2014
We stayed at the apt for 4 days at Thanksgiving time and it was very clean, quite and most of all comfortable and cozy. Apt description was very accurate and location was well centered between Portland and Beaverton so it did not take us long to get everywhere we needed to go. Would recommend for stays shorter than a week. Terry and CiCi

November 2014
Maria and Kenyon have a lovely suite very convenient to Multnomah Village. The space was spotless and comfortable, and well-equipped. We would stay here again. Eileen

November 2014
We loved staying at Maria and Kenyon’s magical cottage! I used to live directly across the street and since I love Multnomah Village so much (and often dream of moving back from the East Coast), I felt lucky to be able to stay on my favorite street again. The guest space is thoughtfully put together with everything you could need: plenty of towels, dishes, cooking equipment, a comfortable bed, and a great shower. The honeycomb blinds offer lots of privacy, although you may want to leave them open so you can view Kenyon’s beautiful garden. I’m looking forward to staying here again soon! If I can’t move back to Multnomah Village, staying with Maria and Kenyon is the next best thing. Joy & James

November 2014
Cute and cozy studio accommodations attached to the main home. It was well furnished in the kitchen, had a nice TV with Direct TV and WiFi, and a nice Queen bed. Maria was welcoming and very accommodating if you needed anything. The location was perfect for a nice walk to Multnomah Village which has lots of shops and restaurants, and close to bus line. Neighborhood very safe. I would highly recommend this beautiful home. Karen

October 2014
The directions to their home was spot on. The home is beautiful and while it was fall and not in full bloom, the garden was still beautiful. The studio apartment with its own entrance was exactly what we needed- quiet and clean. Maria and Kenyon greeted us as we were heading out to explore the neighborhood and gave us great suggestions for places to eat and grab a beer. The neighborhood is awesome. Plenty of places at which to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I even wound up getting a haircut nearby. And heading to downtown was super easy- we went every day. Having lived in NYC, the traffic in Portland is nonexistent. My husband and I had a wonderful time. I would recommend this space to my friends. Thank you Maria and Kenyon! Latoya and Eric

October 2014

We enjoyed our stay with Maria and Kenyon very much and felt very welcome. We could walk every to Multnomah Village easily and also to my daughter’s home. When we were out late, the garden lights were always on to guide our way. It was quiet and very clean. We would definitely stay here again. Ginny

September 2014
We had a wonderful stay here for our first airbnb experience. The cottage was perfect for our stay, and the surrounding garden is beautiful and serene. We are moving to the area so it was great to be able to stay in an actual neighborhood, as opposed to a city hotel. Laura and Adam

September 2014
Maria and Kenyon are very warm and generous hosts. They greet you on arrival and their home is just as pictured, bright and alive with lights and a variety of plants. They generously share the bounty of their garden with their guests. Their home is equipped with everything needed and was very comfortable. It is in the perfect location for exploring Multnomah Village. Given the opportunity, we would definitely stay here again. Tiffany and Cynthia

September 2014
We had a great visit to Portland! Kenyon’s place was perfect fit for us. The location was great and we were able to walk to breakfast in the morning down in Multnomah Village. The apartment was clean and a great little retreat/neighborhood. Ginny

August 2014
We enjoyed our stay at the lovely guesthouse with the beautiful flowers in front and the vegetables in back. The room was roomy and fully equipped and met our needs completely. Our hostess met us and was very informative as to where to go and do. She invited us to help ourselves to the vegetables, which we did, and the tomatoes were awesome!  Martin & Andrea

July 2014
This was my first AirBNB experience and Maria and Kenyon were exactly what I was hoping for. I did not get the opportunity to meet Maria face-to-face, but she was very responsive to our messages. I got to meet Kenyon as he was tending to their beautiful garden. Extremely nice and accommodating – even when we thought we lost the key. The room was welcoming and pleasant. It met our needs perfectly. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. Steve

July 2014
Maria and Kenyon were great hosts and their place is perfect for visiting Portland. Multnomah Village is a great little community with lots of good places for breakfast or dinner, and the rest of Portland is close by. Their place is the perfect quiet comfortable headquarters. We had a great time. Paul

July 2014
I’m very happy I stayed here. The location is great, close to the city and major roadways. If you walk about 2 blocks downhill you’re at the center of the village with plenty of restaurants and some bars. The apartment was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Portland. Maria & Kenyon we super friendly and I’m glad I had the chance to chat with them for a bit. Steven

July 2014
This apartment was perfect for our visit to Portland. We were greeted by Maria upon our arrival who was very welcoming. She provided us with bus passes, a gift certificate to a nearby cafe, and some great information about the area. My wife and I enjoyed having the small business district just a short walk away. The beautiful park nearby was also a huge plus. Two thumbs up! Mike & Cathy

July 2014
This was a small, cozy quiet little retreat! The shaded short walk into the village made it easy to explore the shops and restaurants. Kenyon and Maria were a delight to meet. We found we had a few common threads between hometowns and favorite spots in the Napa Valley to doctor specialists in our families. Yummy homegrown blueberries! Thanks Maria! Richard and Mary Anne

July 2014
This was a great choice while visiting family nearby. We were a few minutes walk to nearly everything needed and a short drive to gas and groceries. Access to major roads is very convenient. The setting is relaxing and very comfortable with Maria checking to see if we needed anything. Cindy

June 2014
We did not get a chance to meet Maria & Kenon during our stay as we arrived late and were quite busy visiting people. Their place is lovely and was a perfect one after travelling long hours from Quebec city. It is peaceful, quiet, and very clean. We appreciated all the little attentions such as the chocolates, the furnished basket for munchies, and drinks. The garden is amazing and we loved being in Multnomah village. France

June 2014
Just following up and letting you know we really enjoyed your place, and I hope all was in good order as we left the studio. We placed the trash in front of the cabinet, and never got a chance to even use the kitchen, just too many good places to eat and experience. We love your village and your gardens. A pleasure meeting you and your husband. Thank you once again, and I would definitely recommend your place to others. Have a wonderful day. Mary

June 2014
Cozy studio in a cozy village location. This stay provided us an opportunity to try out a very different part of Portland. This studio is well located to enjoy the “village” life that is close at hand. Fritz & Leah

June 2014
This studio was one of the loveliest we have stayed in with airbnb. The inside was well-designed and executed, and the flower garden outside with private patio was cozy. The location is perfect with Gabrielle Park at the end of the block and within a block or so to Multnomah Village shopping and dining. So happy to find this place. Jule & Anita

May 2014
We only met the husband–seemed very nice and he graciously left us alone. The room was very clean, well stocked with the necessary accoutrements, private and quiet. It had a separate entrance from the main house and it was in a quiet neighborhood. Brian

May 2014
Maria and Kenyon were out of town during our stay, but left us an abundance of snacks, towels, and beverages. (Which worked out well since Portland had some water issues while we were in town.) The studio was beautiful and the garden lived up to all of the photos. Completely and beautifully zen. Would definitely pick this location when visiting PDX again. Ami

May 2014
My wife and I stayed at Maria and Kenyon’s property “Safe House” for our honeymoon. It was simply incredible! We met Maria as soon as we pulled up and were left awe struck by the beauty of their garden. She gave us a quick tour and then took us inside. Maria and Kenyon have a very nice gift bag and sweet note for us on the table that helped us for welcomed. The Safe House was cozy yet open. We loved the bathroom and appreciated the kitchenette. We even made breakfast one morning, thanks to the kitchen supplies. We honestly felt at home. The location circa Multnomah Village is perfect. Literally a two minute walk to lots of shops and cafes. The distance from PDX airport is great- just enough to see the city while not becoming tired from the drive. We absolutely recommend Safe House to anyone interested. We hope to visit again sometime! George & Rachel

May 2014
Our stay was my husband’s first airbnb, have to say it was perfect for us. We came to Portland to visit many family members. The location was midway between them all, during our free time, which there was very little, we could walk around Multnomah Village & the nearby park. Maria & Kenyon’s garden was lovely! They offer a clean & comfortable studio to stay in. Plenty of towels, great internet service, & much more. Maria is easy to communicate with through airbnb. I would definitely stay here again. Linda G

May 2014

May 2014
Compact but comfortable. Gracious hosts, who left a beautiful bouquet of flowers for us. Within easy walking distance to the Village, or the park. Lovely setting in a very private garden. Location is great for exploring the city of Portland, Lake Oswego or the Willamette Valley wine area. Jay

April 2014
Beautiful garden and studio in a quite neighbourhood. Maria is a great host! Yue

April 2014
I stayed at Maria’s place for three nights. I had no need for much more than the bed as I was spending all of my days elsewhere. The bed was comfortable; the place, quiet. I had a bit of difficulty finding the door and spent a bit of time wandering around the backyard garden looking for it until I realized that the there was someone home. I was pleasantly surprised to be met by Maria who graciously showed me how lost I was, showed me my living space, and then left me to my own devices. She was delightfully helpful. Richard

April 2014
Wonderful little studio! It had everything I needed. Loved the entrance into the garden to get to my “room” and the short walk to Multnomah Village and Gabriel Park. Maria and Kenyon were excellent hosts and I would recommend this spot to all (just leave some openings for me!). Judy

March 2014
We were delighted with our stay at Maria’s. The accommodations were comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed the garden and the quietness of the neighborhood. Multnomah Village is full of inviting shops and eateries. We will definitely try to stay with Maria when we return to Portland. Mardi & Buzz

February 2014
This is a great setup for what is considered a shared space. Very private, good kitchen, comfortable bed, and nice cozy atmosphere. Short walk to an area with food choices. Plenty of parking. Friendly host and easy check in and out. The only thing missing is that because it is such a small space there is no room for a comfortable chair or couch for sitting. This was my second visit and I’d go back. Scott & Sheila

February 2014
This little get away was vey nice and cute. It hade everything you would need, including a full kitchen! We were plesantly surprised that the Multnomah Village was within walking distance. Lists of restaurants and we especially enjoyed the Fat Cat Cafe for breakfast. We unfortunately, didn’t get to me Maria but she supplied enough information for us to get along and let us a local contact to assist if we needed anything. We would definitely stay here again. Leslie

Great location, beautiful place. Jim

September 2013
We had a wonderful stay in the peaceful studio in Multnomah Village. The Studio is very well situated and we never had to drive more than 15 minute to get to all the wonderful places Portland has to offer. The studio has a perfectly sized and usable kitchenette, cable TV, wifi and a bathroom. Everything was extremely clean and tidy. In addition there were numerous guides to Portland. The garden is beautiful and peaceful. Do not hesitate, this is a great place to stay. Silvia

August 2013
Maria was amazingly accommodating and welcoming. I needed a longer term space for a 5-6 week visit from a friend. Maria worked with me at the beginning to nail the dates and ensured that her space would work for my friend. The property itself was a dream. Lovely garden, a spacious studio and walking distance to the village. Do not hesitate to stay here. Lori

July 2013
Maria and Kenyon’s studio in the heart of Multnomah Village was a dream! It was plenty spacious with all the amenities one could need. We were there for several nights and going to the studio felt like going home each night. There was plenty to shop and eat within walking distance and by car it wasn’t difficult to navigate to Portland’s famous sites. Maria provided plenty of literature on Portland as well as maps. Kenyon’s beautiful gardens made us not want to leave! All in all a great stay and we will definitely make this our top place to stay in Portland! Felicia

July 2013
Great little crash pad in very nice cozy village. Nice garden in front and back. Clean, functional place. Very nice couple that hosts you. Only wish would be tiny closet space in case I had wife and clothes with me. Would stay there again in heartbeat. Close to all major traffic routes. Good value. Pat

June 2013
We had a very nice stay in the peaceful studio in Multnomah Village. There is a perfectly sized and usable kitchenette, cable TV to watch soccer, and a bathroom. In addition there were numerous guides to Portland. The garden is beautiful and peaceful and Kenyon and Maria were pleasant and helpful. The studio had everything we needed, and I especially appreciated the walk-ability of the location. It was my first experience with Air BnB and it was a terrific one. Egan & Rob

June 2013
We had a great stay. The place was cute, clean, in an excellent location and the host was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this location. Alexa

June 2013
Maria was gone but Kenyon welcomed us and made sure we felt right at home. This is a terrific place, wonderful location, relatively easy reach to downtown Portland (15 min drive away). But you may never want to go there and decide to just hang out in the garden, go walking at Gabriel Park and never leave Multnomah Village two short blocks away! I give this place and host(s) an A+ rating! Barry

June 2013
Great stay in Multnomah Village! The space is beautiful, tastefully decorated, and functional. Loved the neighborhood and had many options for dining and walking. Mary Kate>/em>

June 2013
I really enjoyed staying here – it’s very private with everything I could have wanted. The bed is very comfortable, there’s a heater in the bathroom so it’s warm after taking a shower and there’s plenty of books and brochures about Portland. It’s on a quiet street yet close to downtown. Highly recommended! Marty

May 2013
Maria is friendly down to earth host. My stay at safe place was great. I love the details of the room, it was warm and inviting. Fresh cut peonies were so beautiful. I would love to visit again. Kumi

April 2013
Maria and Kenyon were amazing hosts. The studio was perfect for our stay! When we arrived there were fresh flowers and a gift-card to a local bakery. The studio was spotless! Maria even folded the towels to look like two swans kissing. Special touches include plush towels, extra blankets for those cool Portland nights, and books about what to see in Portland. When we return to visit our daughters we will certainly stay with you again. Next time though we will stay longer so we can spend more time with Maria and Kenyon. Thank you for making our trip one of the most enjoyable vacations we have experienced. Mike & Linda

April 2013
Multnomah Village is a fun community with nice shops and restaurants. The house is in a charming residential neighborhood just two blocks from the main street. At the end of the street is a large park good for afternoon or morning strolls. Maria’s place is quite comfortable and well cared for. Lots of light and windows. There is privacy and a lovely garden to look at. The bed is pillow top soft and wonderful to sink into for a good night’s sleep. If it’s too cold to be outside, there is a wooden rocking chair inside, the four dining room chairs, and the bed to relax on. There were bees around a flowering tree near the front door. One might want to check if they could still be around should bees be a problem. All in all I quite enjoyed my stay as Maria’s guest. Jo

March 2013
We just stayed at The Safehouse in the heart of Mutlnomah, and we loved it! Maria our host was so wonderful. As we approached the door to our suite we were greeted with this overwhelming smell of flowers. It smells so good! The suite was very clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed…and then some. Maria greeted us in the morning as we were leaving for adventure, with maps, advice, and morning muffins. WIKKID!!!!! They’re situated a 10-15 min drive from downtown Portland, and it is very quiet out there in Mutlnomah Village. We really liked that! Home away from home.. Thanks Maria We can’t wait to come back to stay with you. Brandon

March 2013
Lovely place, incident with internet access and Maria quickly corrected it. We were on a fast trip and location worked out well. Cool temps kept us from enjoying sitting in the garden and enjoying the flowers. Travis

September 2012
Maria and Kenyon were wonderful hosts. We loved our stay at their cozy “mother in law” apartment off to the side of their home. It is extremely well-kept, cute inside, the bed is indeed very comfortable, and they were eager to provide anything we needed in the kitchen that wasn’t already there. The only reason for any dissatisfaction we had with the place was due to seasonal allergies we experienced transitioning from a city environment to their flower-covered space. The grounds truly are beautiful and they gave us fresh flowers (from Kenyon’s flower farm), and fresh produce from their garden. They were extremely hospitable and kind, and I would recommend staying here to anyone who would fit in the space. Allison

August 2012
My experience was perfect. There was very flexible check in and out. The studio is perfectly appointed with attention given to every detail. The village, just steps away, is charming with cafes, shops, and friendly locals. There should be no doubt that a great experience would be had. Many thanks, Maria and Kenyon. Antonia

July 2012
We found the Heart of Multnomah Village to be just as advertised. The beautiful flower gardens in the front provided backdrop for reading or dining on the patio – where we made good use of Maria’s kettle BBQ. From the impressive backyard garden we picked lettuce and squash, and Maria provided us blueberries for our pancakes. The studio is nicely done, comfortable, and quiet. Easy access to Portland via interstate or through the neighborhoods, shopping centers south, wine country and the coast west and forest camping all around. Multnomah Village shops and restaurants just blocks away. And last but not least, Maria and Kenyon are friendly and welcoming hosts. Nancy

April 2012
A Great Experience! I stayed with Maria and Kenyon for a month while my new house in greater Portland was being finished. The house was quiet and the garden was amazing, very pretty with flowers and plants and hummingbirds too. I had to remind myself I was actually in Portland at times! Maria and Kenyon are perfect hosts – they were very genuine and friendly and made me feel at home instantly.
